WordPress launched version 5.5 on August 11th 2020.

If you have a WordPress website, when you login, click on ‘Dashboard’ at the top of the menu (left hand side of the screen) and you should see an option to update there.

It is important to update WordPress, as well as your WordPress theme and plugins.

WordPress 5.5 includes an XML sitemap which Google will find helpful.

The latest version of WordPress comes with image lazy loading.

Images wait to load until they are just about to scroll into view.

When people view your site on a mobile, lazy loading can keep browsers from loading files meant for other devices.

You can now set plugins and themes to update automatically, if you wish.

Auto-updates can be turned on or off for each plugin or theme that you have installed. {It is a good idea to have an additional theme installed, just in case something goes wrong with your primary theme).

WordPress is the world’s most popular Content Management System (CMS) and the software is free to use.
