Google’s Veo 3 video-generation model can create video and synchronised audio in a single pass. Rather than generating the visuals first and adding sound separately, Veo 3 generates dialogue, sound effects, background noise and music alongside the video. Google says this allows the audio to remain synchronised with the action on screen, including accurate lip syncing.
This has implications for marketers. Producing video used to involve several stages, including scripting, filming or animation, editing, voice recording, sound design and post-production. Generative video tools can now compress some of these stages into a single workflow. A marketer could, for example, describe a product demonstration, social media advert or customer scenario and generate a complete video clip with dialogue and sound effects.
The technology could also make it easier to create multiple versions of the same campaign. Different messages, languages, market segments, services, products or creative approaches could be tested without producing each version from scratch. Google highlights the potential for developers to use Veo for rapid experimentation, A/B testing and content creation at scale.
This is particularly relevant to B2B marketing. A company could potentially create personalised product explainers, short social videos, sales presentations, event content and variations of advertising creative much more quickly. The ability to generate both the visual and audio components together also reduces the need to coordinate separate production processes.
Veo has continued to develop since its initial launch. Veo 3.1 introduced richer native audio and greater narrative control, whilst later updates added capabilities such as native vertical video, which is particularly relevant to mobile-first platforms such as YouTube Shorts.
The wider significance is that AI video generation is moving beyond creating moving images. The models are increasingly generating complete audiovisual experiences. For marketers, this could reduce production time, increase the number of creative variations that can be tested and make video production accessible to organisations without large production teams.
