When should I send out newsletters?

MailChimp training“When should I send out newsletters?” I am often asked this question, particularly because I am a MailChimp trainer. I used to say: “Between 10:00am and 12:00pm on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.” But now I am not so sure.

Seminar attendees, clients and members of The Marketing Compass have been telling me that they send out their e-newsletters at 6:00am. The ability to schedule a newsletter is one of the benefits of using MailChimp, by the way.

Many people open emails at breakfast time, in trains or when they arrive early at the office. So the early bird….

A MailChimp training delegate shared with us that she regularly sends out newsletters on a Friday afternoon. People notice this, as no one else sends at this time. She told us that she receives a higher response rate this way.

I suggest that you experiment with send times and measure the response, in terms of open rates and subscriber engagement. The ability to test and receive rapid results is one of the joys of internet marketing, isn’t it?

In case you are interested, I hold monthly MailChimp open workshops in London and I also deliver in-house MailChimp training.  www.mailchimptraining.co.uk
